Pediatric Transplant Heart with Double VAD3D Model
This is a plastinated whole pediatric human heart that was donated for research. The donor was a 6 year old female who received a transplant. The patient had dilated cardiomyopathy, a condition where the muscles of the heart didn’t develop propperly to support the circulation of blood. This patient was on a double Berlin Pump ventricular assist device (VAD) for one year prior to receiving their transplant. This model shows the exit from the Left ventricle where one pump pulled in blood, and both tubes (Partially captured by the 3D scan) returning blood to the aorta and pulmonary artery. This heart uses reference ID: Heart0297.
We partner with LifeSource to receive donated organs deemed not viable for transplant.
