More model informationThis painted cave is in hills around Mount Diablo in Northern California. The ceiling is painted and seems to show the eclipse of 1806 when the Spanish were seeking to missionize all of the native tribes. The volvon people hid instead, likely in this cave while the Spanish tried to pursued them on horseback into the chaparrel. The Spanish gave up and blamed “Diablo Monte” the Devil’s thicket. The Anglos thought that is meant Mount Diablo and named it that.
