Ornamental boat feature from Maluku, Indonesia3D Model
This bow ornament (Korluri) is from the collection of the Siwalima Museum, Ambon. This statue’s provenance is from Sangliatdol, Tanimbar, Maluku, Indonesia.
The object (MAHS-IDN-COL-004-O-0025) is a long, fin-shaped plank that was a decorative element for the bow of a traditional boat. It measures 131.5cm high x 49.8cm. The entire piece of wood is elaborately carved in curved vine motifs with a stylized dog carved at teh base. Korluri such as these usually ornamented traditional boats for ceremonial purposes carried out at sea.
