I always had boring lunchboxes when I was young. Plastic, baggy, and with some generic pattern covering them. Just BORING! And then I made this cool metal lunchbox, complete with theming around pop culture and all the signs of age like rust, dirt, and looking plain cruddy (aesthetically, not in terms of actual quality). Obviously, this isn’t the kind of mario art you would see on these lunchboxes, but I wanted to make something that I would have liked when I was young. I also made an apple to go along with it. It’s got a leaf on it, so you KNOW it has to be pretty-freshly picked. There’s a nice dichtomy between it and the rusted piece of metal right next to it. It’s like Baby New Years and Father Lunchbox.
