Then and Now- The Old City Gates of St. Augustine, Florida, are a contributing part of the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument. These coquina pillars were erected in 1808 during the reconstruction of the Castillo earthwork Cubo Line. The City Gate was the only breach in the earthwork to the walled city. This coquina stone structure has endured and continues to mark the entrance into the historic town. Located across the street from the Castillo fortification, the City Gates were documented as part of our preservation grant research, using terrestrial laser scanning, drone structure from motion techniques (SfM) and photogrammetry reality capture.
