In Ogou Olisha Nago Nègre Jupiter Tonnerre, Constant assembles the vital elements for serving Ogou, the warrior lwa: vèvès, a rooster, a sword, a white enamel cup, and a bottle of rum. The brave fighting cock (kòk kalite) is a symbol of Ogou; rooster is also his preferred food, sacrificed at important ceremonies. These items are encircled with red and blue beads that echo the small Haitian flag at the lower right. The presence of the flag may allude to political or nationalistic aspects of Ogou, who can take the form of a diplomat or a military officer.
