More model informationIn 1966, the 68 m² Oceanus mosaic was discovered, it comes from the central representation room (apse) of the palace villa and shows, in addition to the sea god, ship and harbor scenes, Mediterranean architecture and many sea animals that come from the Mediterranean. Remains of an inscription naming a consul date the mosaic to 234 AD, it is signed by the mosaicist Victorinus. In the center of the mosaic there is a marble-covered water basin, which was reconstructed according to excavation findings.
