Photogrammetry of north west corner of York Minster. Next to pedestrian and carriage gates, gate piers and railings forming entrance and southern boundary to Dean’s Park. 1839, repositioned in 1863. By the Walker Foundry. Gates, gate piers and railings of cast-iron; chamfered stone wall. Diagonally set square section railings with tapered tips and turned standards with urn finials raised on low wall. Gates of similar rails, strengthened by arched braces. Carriage gate piers are octagonal with trefoil headed panelled sides surmounted by tapering lamp standards with cross bars, on stepped acanthus moulded bases; square tapered lanterns with antefixae and acorn finials carried on scrolled brackets.
