Outcrop on private farmland near Whitton Dean, south of Rothbury, Northumberland.
This exposure is one of a number of areas of carved outcrop found in close proximity. Referenced ‘North Lordenshaw 6z’ on the Beckensall Archive (BA), it’s described as ‘A single, large, cup.’
NADRAP added the record to ERA in 2008 describing a more elaborate panel: “Two single cups vary in size and dimensions. One very large (0.14m diameter) and the other moderately large (0.07m diameter). Other depressions on the surface are also present - possible three midget cups scattered across the rock of small, about 0.01m, size.”
