More model information3D reconstruction of the rock exposures at the northern end of Long Beach, known as Warauwerawera in the Maori language. These cliffs are composed of kaiwekite, a volcanic rock formed by the mixing of two magma bodies with different chemical compositions. In some places the kaiwekite forms coherent veins called dykes, while in others it forms chaotic masses of rubble called breccias. It represents one of the many lavas erupted by the now-extinct Dunedin Volcano between 16-11 million years ago.
