Ninomiya Sontoku was a 19th-century japanese agricultural leader, great economist and also moralist.
His life is inspiring and was used as an exemple or moral instruction in the pre WW2 Japan. Born in a farm, his parents died when he was a teenager because of consequences of deluge of 1791. He worked hard in the farm of his uncle and studied during free time, at night. That’s why he’s represented child, reading a book while carrying bundle of wood on his back.
When he was adult, he developped several improvments in around 700 towns, developping their agriculture efficiency. He also managed to developp an impressive and lasting way of loan between peasants, helping them to invest in needed material.
