More model informationThis small axe (6 cm in length) is mostly composed by sodic amphibole (glaucophane) in submillimetric blue acicular crystals, with minor albite, in a very fine-grained matrix with no evident schistosity. The specimen comes from ophiolitic rocks of the Voltri Massif (Giusvalla near Sassello, Savona Province, Italy, 44°26‘56”04 N, 08°23‘42”72 E) and belong to the hystorical collections of the Genoa University.
