More model informationMycenaean jug in the Academic Art Museum Bonn (Inv. Nr. 2723)
The Mycenaean jug, dated between 1200 and 1140 BC, was allegedly found in a grave close to Troy. The vessel has an ovoid body with a trumpet-shaped neck and a single strap handle which connects the rim and the shoulder. Attached to the body via two snakes is a small cup which simultaneously serves as a sieve. The body is painted with circumferential stripes, concentric arcs with pointed lines and spirals. Due to clay fabric and stylistic and typological analogies the jug was maybe produced on the island of Kos.
