More model informationThis sculpture is dedicated to the “Mare de Déu dels Desamparats” (Our Lady of the Forsaken) a Catholic invocation of the Virgin Mary, the patroness of Ibi (Spain) with two human figures: a Moor and a Christian, a representation of the “Moros y Cristianos”, a historical reenactment of the 13th century battle between the two opposing sides. Despite that historical conflict, both figures are together embraced, a symbol of friendship between both cultures.
