This sculpture was captured by Anna and Gabby Carter on 10 March 2023 using an iPad Pro 4th generation and the Scaniverse app. A camera tripod with iPad bracket was used to capture top of the statue. Excerpted from a Bernice Pauahi Bishop Museum Facebook post dated August 28, 2018: In 1968, the head of a moai from Ahu Tongariki was taken to New York City as part of a fundraising and educational campaign for the International Fund for Monuments (now the World Monuments Fund). The goal was to raise awareness about Rapa Nui and to raise funds for the preservation and restoration of cultural sites. The concrete replica at Bishop Museum is one of ten in the world that was cast from this moai’s head – the others are now at the Smithsonian, the Los Angeles Museum of Natural History, and the Storm King Art Center. Two others are in Japan, one is in Canada, and the location of the other three is a mystery.
