More model informationThis model depicts a broken mining hammer excavated from Area B at Iron Age site Khirbat al Jariya in the Faynan region of modern Jordan. Stone tools like this hammer were used to extract the locally available copper ore from mines in Faynan. Prior to breaking, this hammer would likely have been thatched to a wooden handle using the central hole in the stone.
