Amber ring of Minerva, found in Carlisle.
This ring was carved from a single block of amber which probably originated in the Baltic regions. From there, it travelled to Aquileia, north west Italy, where it was carved and finally brought to Carlisle. The ring depicts the face of Minerva, goddess of wisdom and war.
This object is currently on display in the Frontier gallery at Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery Trust. Object Number: CAR 80 KLA C(14) JSA 1.
