Carved boulder in the Millstone Cleugh area, north of Longframlington, Northumberland.
Positioned approx. 30 metres east of the main road (A697), this stone was recorded on the Beckensall Archive (BA) as ‘Millstone Burn 1j’ and added to ERA by NADRAP in 2008. The BA records a single cup from around 1970, with NADRAP adding:
“Identified as Millstone Burn 1j by comparison with Beckensall Archive photos, however, no motifs were detected on this boulder. Two wide grooves across the rock look like mechanical damage and suggest that the rock could have been dragged or turned over. The cup previously recorded may be on the underside.”
