Manx Cross 132. Kirk Michael church, Michael, Isle of Man.
This 2.3 metre tall cross was carved c.950-975AD. Each face is decorated with a wheel headed cross infilled with interlace and knotwork designs the areas around the main cross are filled with further crosses, hunting scenes, horse riders and a couple of dragons. The runic incription on the side translates as ‘Joalf, son of Thoralf the Red, raised this cross in memory of Frida his mother’.
