More model informationVersion bronze sculpture. Manatee „Metaxytherium krahuletzi“, lived around 20 million years ago on the coast of the tropical Eggenburg Sea in todays Lower Austria. They grazed here in herds in the seagrass meadows. Seven almost complete skeletons of manatees were discovered in the Kühnring municipal sand pit, which had probably been killed together by a storm surge and an avalanche of debris. Fossil skeletons can be viewed in the Krahuletz-Museum in Eggenburg. https://www.krahuletzmuseum.at/2018/08/08/fossilien-zeugen-des-lebens/
