The head of a man in limestone from Piobbico (Marche). It is part of the production of funerary heads from the late republican and early imperial ages that was present throughout Italy, but particularly in the municipalities of Northern Italy. The head has been combined with a torso of a statue with toga in Piobbico limestone. The toga is held at waist level by the right hand. The folds of the drapes date between the simple, austere ones of the republican age and the fuller drapery of the Augustinian era.
