Little Skirtful of Stones 02 (Feb 2012)3D Model
This is one of over a dozen carved rocks found in a prehistoric - probable Bronze Age - cairn on Rombalds Moor, West Yorkshire.
Known as ‘The Little Skirtful of Stones’, the cairn has a visible diameter of material measuring approx 15 metres and it reaches 2 metres high. A ridge / platform around the base of the cairn probably suggests an original diameter around 20 metres. 14 carved rocks have been recorded within the cairn, but they tend to get relocated. This particular example sits just off main cairn material at the southern end. In 2012 it was recorded ‘Little Skirtful of Stones 02’ by the CSI: Rombalds Moor project and added to ERA. It has a single cup.
