Little Orange Midden, February 20233D Model
Little Orange Midden is a small archaeological site located at the GTM Research Reserve. The area has been occupied for thousands of years, comprised of shell midden from Indigenous Floridians made from tiny donax clam shells. The shoreline is eroding at an increasing rate due to climate-driven impacts like increased and intensified storm events. Archaeologists with FPAN are working to document and track erosion and site changes using photogrammetry.
This scan is part of a larger project, People of the Guana Peninsula, that aims to understand and address climate change impacts to this site. Stay tuned for more scans and information about how the site is changing. For more information, visit fpan.us/guana.
