Lisra’s tactic had worked. David fully commited to his critical jump strike, and as a result Lisra was able to stun him by stopping his attack, leaving him open. She had taken the opportunity to end the match, and David was defeated. She could tell however that he was frustrated with how he’d been outsmarted and beaten, so Lisra helped him back up to his feet.
“You did pretty great, David. You made me have to actually earn that victory.” she praised with one eye closed endearingly. He still looked dejected. It was clear that David didn’t take losses well. Maybe it had something to do with his past?
“Hey, David, don’t get too bummed out over that loss. You fought great for a non-Sapian. Keep in mind, I’ve been training since I was four.” she explained.
“I guess. It’s just that the hero needs to always be able to fight tough enemies. I can’t be losing like this.” he grumbled. Lisra put her arm on his shoulder.
“It’s okay, that’s what training is for. And I believe that you have what it takes.” she smirked.
