Description: Linarite is known for its exceptionally bright blue color. Specimens may be mistakenly labeled as Azurite due to the similar color. Linarite is named for its type locality, Linares, in the Andalusian province of Jaen, Spain. Linarite is usually found as small to microscopic azure blue crystals, either tabular or elongated prismatic, in clusters or as crusts. Linarite is a minor ore of copper where it exists in large copper deposits, and is usually in association with Malachite, Brochantite, Galena, Cerussite, etc.
