Clay Lamp, Atlante Type XIII (variant), Late Roman; Byzantine. 4th - 5th c. A.D.
Context: “ultimo strato” (last stratum) of the piscina in th western baths.
Description: Moldmade. Orangish clay and slip. Solid flattened handle sloping backward (chipped). Rounded body with short tapering round-tipped nozzle. Broad flat shoulder edged by a thin slightly raised ridge. Globules surrounding central filling hole. Flat discus surrounded by a raised ring that tapers toward nozzle. Shoulder deocrated with four small circles enclosing a beaded rosette flanking the handle and the beginning of the nozzle. Circled rosettes connected by a beaded zigzag motif. Slightly sunken undefined base.
