More model informationBullaun Stone lying in the grounds of the Roman Catholic church in the village of Kilbarron (Newchapel), Co. Tipperary. The stone measuring 70cm long by 70cm wide and 30cm high was used a grinding stone or mortar to crush a range of material which resulted in the deep circular-shaped hollow known in the Irish language as a ‘ballán’ meaning stone or rock with a cup-shaped hole, that has been anglicised into the word bullaun. The central hollow measures 30cm in diameter by 20cm deep. For more information, visit: https://maps.archaeology.ie/HistoricEnvironment/?SMRS=TN009-067----
