More model informationHere is one of the two “twin” sinkholes (aka dolines) in Didyma village on the Argolis peninsula. The Big Doline, called Μεγαλη Σπηλια in Greek (Megali Spilia=Big Cave) has a diameter of ca. 200 meters and a vertical distance from bottom to top of up to 80 meters. The doline used to be a huge cave before its dome collapsed due to erosion by rainfall draining throught the cave. This process took several thousands of years and the age of the doline is approximatelly more than 50.000 years.
