Karnak Cour de la Cachette Western Exterior Wall3D Model
The western exterior wall of the Cour de la Cachette sits just outside the Great Hypostyle Hall at the Temple of Karnak in Luxor, Egypt. The wall includes war scenes and inscriptions from the pharaohs Merneptah and Ramesses II that cover the entire space. The famous Hittite Peace Treaty of Ramesses II highlights the middle of the wall, while Merneptah’s military campaign across ancient Canaan cover the remainder of the wall. His capture of the coastal city Ashkelon is prominently displayed next to the Peace Treaty. The wall itself is roughly 25m, or nearly 80ft long.
The Lanier Center for Archaeology is a consortium member of the Karnak Great Hypostyle Hall Project (KGHHP) with the University of Memphis and the Université du Québec à Montréal. The KGHHP is an epigraphy project, intent on scientifically and digitally capturing and preserving the inscriptions here.
