This jar was found in an earthen grave. pots with human faces were made for burial purposes, but It is unusual for only the head part to be buried. The face is made by pasting clay on the forehead, nose, ears and chin. The eyes are represented by grooved lines, and the nostrils and mouth are represented by unopened holes. The forehead is adorned with jomon (cord marks) and grooved lines, but only the jomon are applied from the cheeks to the chin and the back of the head. The closed-eyed expression seems to represent the face of the buried person.
