Japanese wooden mold version 3. Created from 208 JPG images shot on a turntable with b&w printed markers using Canon R6 with 35 macro prime lens. Images post-processed in Lightroom (classic). This version is modeled from 7 circular ‘rings’ of photos taken at various heights around the object with approximately 30 photos in each ring. After the initial model was created via Zephyr Lite it was decimated to create a smaller exported OBJ and texture file size for faster load time with a trade off of final mesh and texture quality. For comparison you can review a smaller section of same model with higher resolution mesh and texture.
This is a vintage Japanese cake mold, called Kashigata (菓子型).
The cherry wood is dried for 5 years to prevent cracking before carving by skilled craftsman using chisels. Mixtures of sugar and soy flour are pressed into it and allowed to dry. The sweets, called kashi, were sold in confectionery stores. This mold was well used and is slightly burned.
