More model informationThis is a clast of impact-melt excavated from a suevite associated with the Ries impact crater, Germany. This fluidal-shaped clast closely resembles a bombs produced at volcanoes. It is folded and cracked, showing that it was deforming during transport, and that while the interior was hot and somewhat plastic, the rim was cooling and becoming brittle. These ‘Fladle’, German for pancake, can be found in many suevites world-wide.
