More model informationMRI is a medical imaging technique that uses a magnetic field and computer-generated radio waves to create detailed images of the body’s organs and tissues. Most MRI scanners are large tube-shaped magnets. When you lie down inside an MRI scanner, the magnetic field temporarily realigns the water molecules in your body. The radio waves cause the aligned atoms to produce very faint signals, which are used to create cross-sectional MRI images, like slices of bread. The MRI scanner can also produce 3D images that can be viewed from different angles.
