More model informationGotthard of Hildesheim (960-1038) was bishop of Hildesheim and belongs to the important saints of the Middle Ages. The traces of his veneration (naming of churches and towns) reach from Italy and Croatia to Scandinavia. With the Gotthard Pass in Switzerland, one of the most important Alpine crossings and tunnels bears his name.
The representation of St. Gotthard can be found on the baroque Stations of the Cross in Heiligenkreuz. The sandstone figures there were made from 1731.
