More model informationUpper rotary quern also known as a Hertfordshire Puddingstone from the University of Reading excavations at Silchester. Small Find Number 6504. It is a plano-convex cross section, although only a small part of the outer edge is present. There is a narrow countersunk perforation with a maximum diameter of 30 mm and a minimum diameter in the middle of the stone of 10 mm. There is a shallow bevel cut around the perforation on the grinding surface.
Weight 7250g. Diameter 260 mm, thickness 115 mm, diameter of perforation 10–30 mm. Zone 4: Pit Group 26, Pit 15016 (15008).
