In Greek mythology, Hermes is the patron god of traffic, travelers, merchants and shepherds, and the god of thieves, art dealers and magic. As messenger of the gods he announces the decisions of Zeus and leads the souls of the deceased into Hades (underworld). He belongs to the twelve great Olympic gods.
