Originally from the Hepburn Moor area in Northumberland, this rock is held in the collections of Great North Museum: Hancock, Newcastle.
Referenced on the Beckensall Archive (BA) as ‘Chillingham / Hepburn Moor D’ the archive records “Centrally placed is a cup at the centre of two concentric circles, well made.” NADRAP Team 2 added the panel to ERA in 2008, describing:
“Very fine grained massive stone of trapezoidal shape. The edges of the boulder are rounded but the motif doesn’t seem to be very weathered. One motif on top of bedding surface. There are a few possible peck marks in the central area of the motif. The whole rock is covered with a sooty deposit - as though it has been in a fire - but no major cracking or reddening.”
