Large, quarried boulder on private property near Addingham Moorside, Rombalds Moor, West Yorkshire.
This large (6.5 x 4.5 metres), quarried boulder forms the SW walls of what used to be an early 19thC wool combers shop. It is referenced IAG213 by Boughey & Vickerman in their 2003 publication ‘Prehistoric Rock Art of the West Riding’, where they describe:
‘Very large rock with basin weathering. About 20 cups, grooves (not easy to determine).’
The CSI: Rombalds Moor project record the carving ‘Hardwick House 01’ on ERA in 2013. On ERA they provide a detailed description noting similar cups, grooves and bowls but, also suggest some may be natural.
