More model informationHanging Stones rock, Ilkley Moor, West Yorkshire, England.
This possible carving, which has an approx diameter of 30cm, was noted by Dr Sarah Duffy whilst assessing carved stones for a small trial of RTI/PTM for the CSI: Rombalds Moor Project in Apil 2013.
The carvings on the Hanging Stones have been recorded and drawn since the 1870s. However, I can’t find any record of this possible cup(?) with two highly eroded rings and groove (?) at the north eastern having been previously recorded. The motif sits in a slight depression where water often collects, which may account for the level of erosion. Other motifs, including cups and rings / arcs may lay directly to the south.
