More model informationThis is a marker stone, probably 18th-century, showing the way to Chesterfield.
I included a metre rule and a compass in my photos, but they did not show up in the reconstruction (using Colmap and Meshlab, Sep 2017). I have scaled the file to approximately correct size. The face labelled ‘Chesterfeild’ points in a direction approximately N220 – which does not make perfect sense to me, in that Chesterfield is ESE.
The location on my GPS is SK27437403: north of Gardom’s Edge, east of the Eagle Stone, just south of the field boundary wall. I can’t see this example in http://www.derbyshireheritage.co.uk/Menu/Ancient/guidestoops.php
It is odd that “feild” seems to be considerably more common than “field”.
