Prehistoric carving found in the Green Crag area of Rombalds Moor, West Yorkshire.
One of several carved rocks found within a prehistoric enclosure. It’s referenced IAG296 in Boughey & Vickerman’s 2003 publication ‘Prehistoric Rock Art of the West Riding’. In 2013, the CSI: Rombalds Moor project recorded the stone ‘Green Crag 08’ on ERA, noting:
‘Panel carved on upper surface, roughly rectangular, weathered sandstone boulder, gently curved carved surface, 1.17m x 1.10m x 0.45 high. Vegetation to south. Carving consists ofseven recorded cups and four possibly natural depressions and one possible groove that could be natural.’
