Our goal is to make a long term habitat recovery effort viable by assuring that the protected area actively produces tangible benefits for the endemic species and the local population.
Our project brings science and practice together to engage in a process of sustainable reconstruction of the biodiversity of the Cloud Forest in the District of Valera, in the Amazonas Region of Peru. We address the issue from two angles: A. Research based approach to provide information and methods to target goals and monitor the environmental rebuilding process. B. Extensive reforestation in 40 hectares with endemic species locally reproduced in a greenhouse and focused to provide feeding resources to endemic species.
The Utcubamba Valley is a center of endemism with many unique vertebrate species found nowhere else on earth.
