Boulder near Ravensheugh Crags, SW of Wark, Northumberland.
This stone sits amongst a cluster of other carvings, to the E of the four-poster stone circle on Ravensheugh Crag and was thought to be a new discovery during NADRAP surveys. The team referenced the stone ‘Goatstones 20’ and added it to ERA in 2008 with the following description:
‘An earthfast boulder close to ground level. It has three possible cups and seven other smaller depressions which are likely to natural weathering.’
Has one of the larger cups been placed to utilise the rocks topography and give the impression of a ring / partial ring?
