Goat Votive Figurine3D Model
Description: This figurine depicts a goat standing on its hind legs, with distinct angular head with pointed ears, long spiraling horns, a detailed beard, and naturalistic body. Left leg, right foot, and tip of left horn are missing. A slot under the body suggests a support that propped the object up. Made with orange buff-clay, resulting in an orange tint. Possibly part of a group/set of animal figurines used as votive deposits; votive figurines were produced without the intention of recovery or use once placed in a sacred place for religious purposes. Note: in Greek iconography goats are symbols of deities, ex. Dionysus or Pan.
Date: 3rd century BCE
