Standing Stone (DU025-047002-) known locally as ‘Queen Maebh’ which is National Monument No. 276. Standing in a field to the east of the gate lodge to Glencullen House in the townland of Glencullen (Gleann Cuilinn/Holly Glen), parish of Kiltiernan, barony of Rathdown, in the Dublin Mountains. Annotated ‘Pillar Stone’ on the 1837 edition of the Ordnance Survey six-inch map which consists of a rectangular block of quartz, narrowing a little towards its base measuring 1.85m high by 1m by 0.7m which is orientated on a northeast-southwest axis. It is unusually blocky in its shape as most monuments of this class are much thinner than they are long and regularly have a pointed or angled top rather than the flat top of this regular block. There are no packing stones around the base. Prehistoric standing stones are also known as ‘Gallauns’ which is from the Gaelic word gallán used to describe an upright stone.
