Gitana pulls a cart to the local city each day with her owner, Santos, which allows her to sell goods along the way. Santos has been extremely active in learning about how she can better care for Gitana and is always striving to achieve more. Santos has helped World Horse Welfare with the project in Nicaragua. Gitana means gypsy and the design has been inspired by traditional dress prints. Gitana was part of World Horse Welfare’s Borough Trail in Windsor and Chelsea between April and August.
The master sculpture itself was created by acclaimed artist Judy Boyt based on the story of Lucas, a frozen and abandoned foal who was rescued by World Horse Welfare and has flourished into a beautiful sport horse.
