The Funerary cone (inventory no. 1017b) measures approx. 24.5 cm in length and has a diameter of 9 cm. It is made from clay and dates from the reign of Psamtik I (approx. 664–610 B.C.). It was discovered during the excavations in the Asasîf in Qurna. The base of the funerary cone shows on the left and right side the deceased, Basa, praying while kneeling above the nb-sign. The sun bark is depicted in the centre. Below are two vertical lines of inscription. The left column states: “Osiris, god’s father, the servant who seeks the secrets of the horizon, Hati-a of the town, Basa, justified.” The right column says: “Osiris, stolist of Gebtu (Coptos), imi-is-hesek-priest, king’s acquaintance, Basa, justified.” The cone is on permanent loan from the Landesmuseum Württemberg, Stuttgart.
