On the left side of the model is the lower portion of panel 9a and on the right side, panel 9 at the Grotto Alcove of the Palatki Heritage Site NW of Sedona, Arizona.
The surface of both panel areas have complex, very thinly layered fine clastic to clayey fracture fill material. At the bottom of P9a is a dark zone that is not smoke damage. It is believed to be a manganese rich fill layer. Above the dark zone, P9a has a dense collection (>8000 lines each < 0.5 mm wide) of fine incised petroglyph lines that are all covered by Archaic, Sinagua and Yavapai pictographs. On panel 9, cross hatched diamond and checkerboard incised lines are overlain by Sinagua and possibly Yavapai pictographs.
