This is a detailed model of rock art Panel 1 at the Water Catchment alcove of the Palatki Heritage Site NW of Sedona Ariz. in the Coconino Forest.
This panel is being studied for superposition relationship of multiple sets of scratched petroglyphs to determine which, if any of the sets are Sinagua, Archaic or Paleo-Indian. In nearby alcoves, almost all of the styles represented on this panel appear to be “under” Sinagua and Archaic painted pictographs implying that they are Archaic or older in origin. Several of the scratch styles are comparable to those seen at Early Archaic, Dalton and Clovis sites in the western USA.
