Datura, also known as sacred datura and Jimson Weed is believed to have been used by pre-historic and proto-historic native Americans in the Verde Valley as a hallucinagen. The plants are prolific in the region. This example is located at the Palatki Heritage Site NW of Sedona Arizona. The plant is poisonous and should not be used by anyone not familiar with it’s properties.
The Palatki Heritage Site, located NW of Sedona, Arizona is open 7 days a week from 9:30am to 3:00pm. Reservations are recommended due to limited parking and space on the dwelling tours. Call 928-282-3854 for reservations.
